Improved productivity and ergonomics in our production warehouse

At HEC-Holland we are constantly looking for ways to optimize our business processes and improve the working conditions for our employees. With the purchase of an industrial manipulator for our production warehouse in Tilburg we have taken another step in this direction. This improved productivity and ergonomics significantly. Improved productivity The introduction of the Dalmec pneumatic manipulator in our warehouse means a significant increase in working speed. This device is specifically designed to handle heavy and bulky loads. With the Dalmec, our employees can now work faster and more efficiently. This allows us to increase our production capacity and serve our customers even better. Ergonomic and Safe One of the biggest advantages of the Dalmec Partner Equo is the ergonomic support it offers our employees. Lifting and moving heavy cable tapes is physically demanding. But with the help of the pneumatic manipulator we are significantly reducing this burden. This prevents work-related injuries, but also ensures that our employees can work more comfortably and safely. It is equipped with several safety mechanisms that ensure that it is safe to use, even when handling the heaviest loads. Flexibility and Precision The Dalmec Partner Equo gives us the flexibility to perform a wide range of tasks. For example, with the different grippers and attachments we can handle various types of cable tapes and other materials without having to change equipment. And the precision with which this balancer operates is another major advantage. The system provides precise control over the movement of the load. This is essential for cutting and handling cable tapes with the high accuracy that our customers expect. Future-oriented Investment HEC is continuously looking for new innovations to make the production warehouse excel and to offer our employees a safe and pleasant working environment. The addition of the Dalmec is part of our drive to continue to grow and innovate. Would you like to visit our production warehouse in Tilburg and experience our production processes? HEC-Holland is looking for environmental solutions

HEC-Holland is looking for sustainable solutions

Pallets made of wood fiber HEC-Holland is always looking for sustainable solutions and ways to reduce its carbon footprint. A few months ago, we started testing wood fiber pallets in our warehouse in Tilburg. These pallets are seen as a possible environmental friendly substitute to the normal wooden pallets. These pallets have both sustainable and logistical advantages. The first advantage is in the material of the pallet. By compressing the wooden fibers into the desired dimension, we can load our containers more efficiently and leave less space “un-used”. Additionally, this material is made from wasted wood. This means that our pallets are made of 100% recycled material and can be recycled again when they are at the end of their lifespan. Next to the material, the form of the pallets makes it possible to stack the pallets. By stacking these pallets we need 70% less room, compared to the standard wooden pallets. The transportation of the pallets is more efficient this way since we need less transportation. Less transportation also means lower carbon emission. In addition, it saves storage space in our warehouse. Finally, our pallets are safer for our staff, our client’s staff and the products. In these pallets, no nails or sharp edges will be found, which traditional pallets might have. These could damage the product. Conclusion So, when looking at the previous points we were convinced we should further investigate in the possibility of using the pallets. They are not just used for our light weighted products, but are also used for the more heavy loads. We are monitoring this testing process and are convinced that these pallets could replace the standard wooden pallets for some of our products. Next to this project, we are always looking into innovations and developments which can help us to be more aware of the environment. If you are familiar with sustainable solutions, you can always get in contact with us.

Movement from Goch to Tilburg

Movement from Goch to Tilburg HEC-Holland is still growing fast, also during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, we were forced to move from our small warehouse in Goch to a much larger warehouse in Tilburg. In this new warehouse we are able to place more slitting machines and we can store more products. In addition, the warehouse includes a large office space with all facilities, where we can meet our suppliers and customers. The location of our warehouse is fantastic, as it is just a few minutes from Barge Terminal Tilburg. Moreover, Tilburg has a direct train connection with central Europe and Asia. We are very happy with our new warehouse in Tilburg: the logistics hotspot of the Netherlands. Expansion of production capacity The growth of our company has, among others, led to the expansion of our production capacity. We have our own slitting facility since one year now, however we are close to full capacity. For this reason, we are looking for new slitting machines. One year ago, we could not imagine that we already have to look for these new machines. The slitting facility that we have now, is for slitting water blocking tapes. We are now in the process of buying a new machine that can slit aluminum tapes, so that our production department can convert locally. This process was intended for one year ago, but unfortunately we had to postpone this due to corona. Nevertheless, we are very happy that this process is coming to an end. Expansion product assortment Additionally to the physical expansion, we spend a lot of time on setting up our ERP system. Our product assortment is growing since our office in Shanghai is busy with building relationships with new suppliers. Our colleagues in Shanghai speak the same language and have the same culture as most of our suppliers, which make it more easy to build a valuable relationship. We hope to optimize these relationships even further in the future.

Kurt production leader HEC-Holland

Greetings from our Production Leader Kurt

Our expansion on storage capacity and production in Goch, Germany created a wish for some extra HEC-power. Since September 2020, Kurt Aarts is the new production leader / Head of warehousing, distribution and converting facilities at HEC-Holland. This young man at his 48’s is now part of our dedicated team. Production leader Kurt Kurt is the right person when most needed not only for HEC, but also for children and young adults who cannot live at home for several reasons. Outside of the workplace he takes care of these kids together with his family and enables a better daily life for those in need. There is no missing attitude towards work in Kurt as he also rebuilds and remodels the house of his family in spare time. All this indicates good organizational skills which is one of the reasons why Kurt is there to maintain effective distribution and production for our customers. Kurt emphasizes that, for instance, to secure in-time deliveries it is important that the production demand is regularly predicted and that planning stays flexible. The small and dynamic team of HEC-Holland manages this by ensuring short lines of communication within our departments. Question of the day As a game changer in the international wire and cable market, HEC-Holland has eased the daily basis in Goch with a new 100% electric company car and an electrical fork-lift. We were curious to ask Kurt which one of them he is more happy to drive with. His diplomatic answer: “I’m very happy to drive an electric car for HEC. The fork-lift, however, is also an indispensable asset. It allows us to stack goods quickly, easily, and flexibly transport them from A to B. So i like both actually.” Don’t hesitate to contact us in case of questions! You can also stay updated by following our company’s LinkedIn page.

Covid-19 and the effect on feedstock prices and sea freight rates

Covid-19 and the effect on feedstock prices and sea freight rates We are not only facing unusual times due to Covid-19, but also see that it starts to influence our business. In some feedstock indicators, such as non-ferrous metals or polymer, there is a strong increase due to market demand versus availability. One of the key factors is the strong rebound effect of the business in Asia exceeding 2019 figures by average 6-7%. We clearly see that covid-19 has a strong effect on feedstock prices and sea freight rates. The last couple of months we see strong developments on (sea) freight notations due to a shortage on ship space and imbalance on equipment (containers). This lead to a strong increase at record breaking heights which hasn’t been seen for more than a decade. In December, we expected the sea freight rates to ease by the end January. Because Asia would prepare for the celebration of the Chinese New Year. However, there still is an imbalance on equipment, failing synchronizing container demand versus availability. Supply chain system problems with ocean and/or feeder vessels are to be well connected. This results in delays in the delivery. HEC-Holland is doing the very best to make sure the market demands cover your production requirements. Nevertheless, at this stage we cannot predict how prices and rates will develop in the future. It will certainly be a dynamic half year. We will stay in contact with you on how we can assist you in any way. At this moment we are unfortunately forced, due to the unstable market conditions, to call for a “Freight Adjustment Surcharge”. All depending on the type of product. We will do our best to minimize costs and prices for you. More information? For more information, please contact your account manager. They can tell you how we can secure our joint business and how it might effect the commercial conditions. Of course, we try to minimize costs. We do have to be realistic under the present circumstances which count for all parties.
