TSC - supplier of semi-conductive compounds

Supplier of semi-conductive compounds

TSC is HEC-Holland’s supplier for semi-conductive compounds for the European cable and wire market. They are a proven supplier in the market of thermoplastic and thermoset insulation semiconductive compounds. TSC (Total Solution for Compounding) is established in 1968 and can rely on over 50 years of experience in compounding. They are developing and manufacturing their products in the Korean Peninsula.

Quality assurance and product selection

At HEC-Holland quality is of great importance. All our suppliers must therefore meet a number of quality tests before we collaborate. Therefore, we have done several laboratory scale and industrialization tests to ensure the quality of the products and processes of TSC.

During the past year we have tested multiple measurements such as, IEC standard and Cenelec HD 620 2 Y 50 Hz test, including VDE level. Also the accelerated test of 3.000 hrs/ 500 Hz has been part of our testing programme. All our thermoplast en thermoset semi-conductive insulation compounds passed the strict tests.

We are pleased to announce that we have commercialized the products listed below for several of our customers and they are already used in their cable design. And, we keep on building up the customer base in the European market for the products and materials provided by TSC Korea.

TSC products

  • HEC-SC-230 – MV semicon – adhesive insulation compound
  • HEC-SC-250 – MV semicon – bonded insulation compound
  • HEC-SC-330 – MV semicon – strippable insulation compound
  • HEC-SC-600 – SC sheathing jacketing compound

Our new office at Velperweg

Moving to our new office at Velperweg

After eight years working in our old office at the Eusebiusbuitensingel 3 in Arnhem, we have moved to a new location in Arnhem, at the Velperweg 82. HEC-Holland has grown rapidly in these past eight years. At the previous location there was no more space for all of us to work, which is why this is the perfect moment for us to move to a brand new and modern office. After a lot of (re)building activities and preparations the last few weeks, we have moved on the 29th of April and started working in our new “home” on the 2nd of May.

Our new office

Our new office is designed by an interior designer and will have a modern look and feel. The office has two state of the art meeting rooms, with the highest standard in Technology. Furthermore, HEC-Holland has invested in every way possible to improve the working environment of its employees and to stimulate their health. For example, we use new high quality office chairs and electronic desks who are adjustable in height. this way our employees are able to stand during work, which will benefit and stimulate their health.

This new office is especially perfect for inviting clients, suppliers, partners and other relations to come to Arnhem for a meeting. It is without saying that you are always welcome to visit us and have a formal or informal chat with a great cup of coffee.

Please contact us and make an appointment.

The decade of electricity

decade of electricity

2020’s will be the decade of electricity

It does not surprise you that the coming decade will go into history as ‘the decade of electricity’. Many projects are being launched or being put on the drawing board. Wether it be on- or offshore renewable energy such as windfarms, hydro power, solar power or other alternative sources. They all focus on replacing fossil fuel power sources and reduce our footprint in the world.

Power generation

Electrification across key end users leads to a double demand of electricity by 2050. This is particularly driven by an increased demand in buildings and a general shift towards electricity as an energy source. Also road transportation is showing an incread demand for electricity. Wind and solar energy are rapidly gaining share in the capacity mix. In the past few years they accounted for more than half of the net capacity additions.
The generation of renewable energy is projected to account for more than 50% of the total power generation post 2030’s. This marks a clear trend break from historical fossil fuel-based generation.

Electric transportation

As the role of intermittent resources in total generation increases, power systems see strong growth balancing needs. Particularly when solar and wind generation combined reach a share beyond 30% commented by McK. 2 Key reasons are the costs versus effectiveness on renewables, which are getting more in favor towards fossil fuel – building solar or wind capacity becomes more of interest. At the same time the costs on storage capacity and the innovation on other storage capacity will decline further. Thus making it interesting to switch a big part of road transportation to electric. This applies for either passenger cars or trucks for the coming 5 to 10 years, thus within the 2020’s.

Sizeable production capacity

The first decade of the 20th century, where we are shifting towards renewables, is nearly at an end. We now enter into the second phase the energy transition with a visible shift into ‘the decade of electricity’. The politics need to take decisive decisions and steps to clear the road to start up the big projects. We face challenging times where some cable makers will have difficulties to make the right choices in order to be ready for the years to come.

Our conclusion: For now, there is a strong believe of having an overcapacity on the production of power cables in the market. But with the above aspirations, we think that a sizeable production capacity is required to achieve the ambitions for the biggest energy transition we have ever challenged.
